Child's Psychoactive Breakfast gets more "Mealy"

As if children didn't have enough on their plate (Antidepressants: Paxil, Prozac, Lexapro; Stimulants: Amphetamines like Ritalin, Concerta, Adderall; Mood Stabilizers for disorders not even proven to exist in childhood: Lithium, antipsychotics like Chlorpromazam ...etc.), now it appears their traditional psychoactive breakfast will be cholesterol reducing as well.

Cholesterol drugs recommended for some 8-year-olds to prevent heart disease

For the first time, an influential doctors group is recommending that some children as young as 8 be given cholesterol-fighting drugs to ward off future heart problems.

Dr. Stephen Daniels, of the academy's nutrition committee, says the new advice is based on mounting evidence showing that damage leading to heart disease, the nation's leading killer, begins early in life.

Of course, like everything in the Medical Industrial Complex, it has little to do with whatever health concerns they are actually using to justify profiteering off the current obesity and heart condition problems in childhood. The medical professionals, like this Dr. Stephan Daniels here, become pushers for the pharmaceutical industry, and people buy into it just because it's what the "good doctor" prescribes.

What this Medical Industrial Complex doesn't tell you (as something they know all to well being professionals in the field of health) is that healthy diet and exercise is just as effective as any medication. This means not buying into the current health craze with all these heavily processed foods that children eat that announce "reduced sodium" and "non-fat" because that's just another industrial money grab that isn't really where you should be focusing your health considerations.

If you want your children to eat healthy, forget labels, stop buying them processed foods. Shop the periphery of the supermarket, that is where you're going to find your answer: fruits, vegetables, meats, natural juices and dairy. Avoid the center of the store, where all the cholesterol-inducing, supposedly "health conscious" brands and labels are at all costs, it's a marketing trap certified by the FDA that's not doing children any justice.

Most children aren't going to need this pill if they are given a proper diet. Take one more useless medication off their plate. There is no reason why in our developed society with all this abundance of these basic staples that our children have to be this unhealthy that they need another pill to combat the atrocity that is modern unhealthy -- "kid friendly"-- lifestyle.

Just goes to show that adults have little more knowledge of how to stay healthy than children themselves.
